Hi Everyone,
Are you enjoying the snow? It was a perfect reason to stay in and watch the game. I hope you all had a great day! Just a couple of things to mention this evening.
JAM AND SCONE MAKING CLASSES: I've got a couple of jam and scone making classes scheduled for this month. I thought I better get moving on this since this is the month we're ordering our fruit from Bithell Farms. I'd love for you to see how easy it is to make delicious jam so that you can take advantage of the beautiful Oregon fruit. I'll demonstrate the jam making technique and then you'll get to choose between 4 types of scones which you'll be making. While they are baking we can enjoy a cup of tea. I'll supply all the necessary ingredients and the class fee is only $18.00. The dates of the classes are Thursday Feb. 18th and Tuesday Feb. 23rd. Each class is held at our commercial kitchen between 6:30 and 8::30pm. Please RSVP to the store and prepay to hold your place in the class.
OREGON FRUIT & FISH: The deadline for ordering the beautiful Oregon fruit and fish has been moved to Tuesday Feb. 23rd. I must have prepayment for your order in the form of cash or check by that date. Please go to www.tasteoflifestores.com, click in the right margin on "link for Bithell fruit order" and log onto that website. If you have any trouble, just call the store and we can place the order online for you. The truck will deliver your order sometime in March or April. I'll let everyone know about 7-10 days before it arrives so that you can meet the truck to pickup your order.
MONTANA MILLING GRAIN ORDER: Have you checked out the list online yet for the grains, flakes and flours? We'll receive our orders on April 17th. They don't come again until October so order accordingly. The prices on 98% of the grain has come down. Yippee! Order while the prices are down since we never know what's going to happen in our economy. Let me know if you have any questions. If you have any trouble ordering, just call the store and we can put your order online for you. The deadline to order is March 10th.
FALCON CO-OP: This week Tuesday is the deadline to order groceries to be delivered to the Falcon area. Take a look online and let us bring your order to you free of charge. Call the store if you have any questions. We deliver on Thursday between 4 and 5pm at the Walmart parking lot.
I need to stop and tell you all thank you for shopping with us. You blessed us so much this past weekend with wonderful sales. When we see our neighbors Big City Burrito close, it just causes me to be so grateful that we are still in business. These days you just can't take anything for granted. So, that being said, thank you so much for shopping with us.
MICROWAVE TEST? I just heard of a science project that happened. I haven't checked it out for myself but it is really intriguing me. Verity Farms heard about this and I thought I'd pass it on to you. Microwave water until boiling and also heat some water on the stove until boiling. Cool completely. Water 2 identical plants, one with the microwaved water, one with the boiled water. See what happens. They claim that the plant that got the microwaved water died! If any of you are willing to try this, please let us know what you found. I've heard that the molecules and nutrients in microwaved food are compromised, I wonder if this even happens in water. What if we aren't getting the necessary nutrients we need when we microwave veggies, leftovers; even my milk when I heat it up for a hot chocolate. Please let me know what you find out, but meanwhile I'm cooking more on the stove.
We're going to have a few of our frozen large meals on sale this week. If you purchase $75 worth of groceries, we'll take $5 off of a large dinner of a selected variety. Come on in and see if this is a meal you'd love to have in your freezer.
One last word; be watching for The Image magazine when it's delivered to you via your mailbox. Verity Farms has a large ad and an article written by yours truly in it this month. They are so excited to share with our community about their farming practices and their desire to put healthy food on our family dinner tables. Take time to look at it and spread the word.
Well, I don't want to prattle on so I'll say goodbye for now. We look forward to seeing you in the store.
