Hi Everyone,
Are you having a nice weekend? I'm having a lovely Sunday. Yesterday everyone was doing inventory at our kitchen and at the store. We felt pretty bleary eyed by the end of it all, but it's done! Yippee! That freezer work is amazing. Ron and Adam did the main brunt of it at the kitchen and Dawn was quite the trooper at our store. That -5 degree temp makes it hard to move your lips and talk after awhile.
NEW SOUP AGAIN: Did you come into the store in the last 2 days? Joseph made split pea soup with ham. It's yummy. It's a Dutch soup that's been a favorite in our family. We'll be sampling it over the next few days. Come on in and give it a try. You may find a new favorite.
BREAD CLASS: We've got a bread class this Tuesday, Feb. 2nd from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. I've got 4 spots open. The fee is only $10. Are you interested? One bit of information I just learned;, the WonderMill is going up in price by $10 starting Feb. 5th. If I get a mill ordered before that date, you can still get the mill for $259.99, otherwise it goes up to $269.99. I know it isn't much of an increase, but hey, $10 is $10. So if you'd like to see the mill in action on Tuesday, call the store tomorrow morning and get your name on the list. I have one more class scheduled for next week Thursday, Feb. 11th. I will hold this class if we get a minimum of 8 people so check your calendar and see if your husband or friend would like to come. We'll do a lot of baking, a lot of eating, and we'll talk about all the grains on my grain list from Montana Milling. It's hands on fun! You'll be making your own cinnamon rolls.
MONTANA MILLING GRAIN SALE: Check out the list of grains, flakes and flours that are available on the list. Go to www.tasteoflifestores.com, click in the right margin on "link for Bithell fruit and Montana grain". Log on to that website, or register (this is a separate log in from the main website) and you'll see the list in the left margin. Let me know if you have any questions regarding the products on the list. The quickest way to get answers is to email me.
BITHELL FRUIT & FISH SALE: Just as the link in the above paragraph, go there to see the list of fruit and fish from Oregon. Is anyone interested in coming to a jam and scone making class? After my bread classes are done on Feb. 11th, I'll begin scheduling jam and scone classes again. They are hands-on fun as well. Making jam with the Bithell fruit is absolutely the best flavored jam I've ever had. Have you purchased a jar of jam at our store yet? Give it a try and see if you agree with me. The dark sweet cherries make a healthy tastee snack for kids and amazing cobbler. The seedless fruit purees are what I use for our jams. Great flavor, no seeds! It's the way to go for quick jam making. The fish prices are very good. They haven't gone up at all since last October. The delivery will be sometime in March/April timeframe. Let us know if you need any help ordering. We can even do it for you at the store. I do need prepayment by the deadline of Feb. 20th in the form of cash or check only. No exceptions. Thanks for your understanding.
SUPERBOWL SUNDAY IS COMING!: Would you like to have spicey chicken bites for your party? How about our whole wheat cheese pizzas? Dinner rolls and luncheon meat? One of our 6 soups? Oh, let's not forget our chips and salsa. We get a fresh shipment of salsa every Friday. If you would like us to get quarts or a gallon of your favorite, please call the store by Thursday morning. We'll get that in for you on Friday afternoon. This Friday is also tamale week. We're getting approximately 18 packages of chicken and about 15 packages of pork. If you want us to set any aside for you, you must call. I won't be able to get any additional packages of tamales so it's a first come, first serve basis. We have another idea for treats for your party. We've had several people request our "naughty bars" cut into one inch pieces. We get 4 pieces out of each normal sized bar. It's a great way to stretch the bars and then people can get several varieties. Let us know if you'd like this as well. You're welcome to preorder anything we have at the store, so just let us know. We're here to serve.
FALCON CO-OP: It's time to order your groceries for the Falcon delivery. Adam will come out your way on Thursday, Feb. 11th. Please go to www.tasteoflifestores.com, click on the link in the right margin labeled "link for Bithell fruit, Montana grain and Falcon co-op". It's simple from there. Please let your neighbors, family and friends know. We'd love to expand our co-op to keep us coming without delivery fee. You guys are great orderers and we love coming out to see our Falcon friends. I'll confirm your orders the beginning of next week.
Oh, two more things. I've been giving you some Verity Farms highlights the last couple of weeks. Howard, our longtime Verity friend, sent me an email this morning that I feel compelled to include in this note. It's a quick read but important for the future of our foods and health. I'll just copy and paste it as it's pretty short.
I am hoping that everyone who reads this will take action.

I have witnessed negative affects form GMO crops to livestock since their introduction in 1996. The amount of negative side affects continues to grow with every day that passes. I have numerous articles and scientific papers that support and prove the negative aspects of GMO crops and would be glad to share them with anyone who is interested.
I had a conversation yesterday with Dr. Don Huber, Emeritus Professor at Purdue University. Dr. Huber has conducted years of research on glyphosate herbicide (glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup herbicide) and the negative affects on crops, the soil and nutrient tie ups that are caused by glyphosate. Dr. Huber told me that if Roundup Ready alfalfa gets approved, that glyphosate herbicide could stay in alfalfa plants for up to ten years. There is also a very strong possibility of traces of glyphosate ending up in the milk supply when dairy cows are fed Roundup Ready alfalfa that has been sprayed with glyphosate.
There is an article attached showing the negative affects of glyphosate in the soil.
*Do you want to expose yourself and your children and grandchildren to this kind of milk?*
*Please take action!*
Talking points include:
*There needs to be independent third party research proving the safety of the technology before regulatory approval. *If Roundup Ready alfalfa is approved the pollen drift will contaminate all organic and conventional alfalfa.
*There could be further damage to the bee population in the US with the introduction of Roundup Ready alfalfa.
Please feel free to forward this email to your friends and relatives!
Thank you!
